Health and Safety Statement

It is the policy of the Directors and Managers of Adstone Construction Ltd, to provide working conditions that are healthy and safe for all members of the workforce. This is to enable them to carry out their work activities in such ways that the health, safety and welfare of themselves and of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions will not be affected in an adverse way.


The Board recognises its duty to protect people; property and the environment and that health and safety should never be compromised for other objectives.


The Directors believe that a strong commitment to health and safety within the company will be beneficial in many ways, including a safer and happier workforce, improved productivity and quality, satisfied clients etc.


It is recognised that resources put into Health, Safety and Training etc, are an investment with long term benefits both to the company and to the workforce. The overall benefits include reduced costs of accidents and near misses, less “lost time”, liability etc and improved productivity, more effective use of resources, a better public perception of the company etc.


The Directors and Managers accept their duty to provide the necessary investment in time and money to provide the necessary resources e.g. for equipment, training, PPE, advice, monitoring etc


To promote this high level of commitment and continual improvement, the Directors will discuss health and safety and related issues at the regular board meetings. They will hold other meetings where other persons will be invited to participate in discussions and planning of any changes or improvements that have health and safety implications. Documents, toolbox talks etc will be prepared covering any relevant aspects of health and safety and other issues, and these will be freely distributed within the entire workforce as appropriate.


Adstone Construction Ltd will ensure that the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and all duties and obligations imposed by any other Acts and Regulations affecting the activities of the contracting and factory divisions are to be compiled with.


Everybody in the company will be involved in promoting a strong “safety culture” on a “no blame” basis as an integral part of good management. This will be done by providing adequate resources, information, training and instruction involving individuals at all levels in the active management of health and safety in the workplace.


Risk assessment and risk management are seen as being of prime importance in establishing progressive working methods that help improve both efficiency and health and safety in the workplace. Everybody within the company at all levels has some degree of input to this ongoing process.


The Directors have decided to use the services of an external contractor namely CLD Health & Safety to assist in monitoring and developing Health and Safety issues within the company. Both Adstone Construction and CLD Health and Safety have a wide ranging and ongoing commitment to ensuring that the best possible health, safety and welfare procedures are in place for everybody’s benefits.


This policy and other key documents will be reviewed at least annually. Where considered necessary, relevant documents will be amended and re-issued as needed.
